CATCH ALL PI Dr Alina Hartmann receives EMBO Scientific Exchange Grant
Dr Alina Hartmann, Co-PI of the CATCH ALL INF project at the University Clinic Schleswig-Holstein, Campus Kiel, has been awarded an EMBO Scientific Exchange Grant to support a six-month research stay at the Technical University of Denmark in Lyngby, near Copenhagen. She will join the Cell Diversity Lab led by Prof Erwin Schoof, one of the leading groups worldwide in the field of single-cell proteomics.
During her stay, Dr Hartmann will receive hands-on training in single-cell proteomics using mass spectrometry and apply this technology to her own research in B lymphoblastic leukemia (ALL). Her project focuses on the characterization of B ALL at diagnosis and relapse using single-cell mass spectrometry-based proteomics. The aim is to better understand disease heterogeneity and mechanisms of therapy resistance at an unprecedented level of resolution.

The EMBO grant provides financial support for accommodation and living expenses abroad. Beyond the practical support, the award also represents international recognition of the scientific quality and potential of the project.
The exchange further strengthens the international network of the clinical research unit CATCH ALL. Initial connections are already in place, including a recent seminar contribution in Kiel by Arne Hellhund, PhD student in the Schoof lab. The collaboration is expected to foster long-term scientific exchange between Kiel and Lyngby.
“I am very grateful for the opportunity to spend time in one of the world’s leading laboratories in single-cell proteomics. I look forward to building this new collaboration, working in a different research environment, and expanding my expertise not only in single cell proteomics but also in bioinformatics and computational biology”, says Dr Hartmann.
We congratulate her on this achievement and wish her a productive and inspiring time in Denmark.
